PLANETARY MIXER FORMS COMPACTABLE MATERIAL.
Environmental concerns and worker safety mandate an effective dust management strategy in the aggregate industry. The DustMASTER mixing system successfully processes baghouse dust collected from aggregate crushing into a low-moisture, dust-free material for safe truck loading and transportation back to the company quarry.
A planetary mixer mounted on load cells is charged with dust from a storage silo via gravity feed. The storage silo is continually filled from the plant’s pneumatic feed system when the crusher is in operation. The mixer’s aggressive counter-rotating paddles quickly blend the dust with minimal added water into a moist, compactable, soil-like material.
When the batch is complete a hydraulically operated bottom door opens for fast discharge of the conditioned dust, in approximately 30 seconds, into a haul truck below. PLC-based control allows complete system flexibility for adjusting mixing times and water-to-dust ratios. The system is designed to run automatically without an operator present.
