Refractory Industry

Mixing alumina and silica clays for high-temperature environments.

HORIZONTAL SHAFT MIXER IS A REFRACTORY STANDARD.

Mixing of fireclay, alumina and other castable materials for making high-temperature refractory bricks and furnace shapes is a demanding application. DustMASTER offers a horizontal shaft mixer specifically designed for the refractory market.

In a standard configuration, a 2,000 lb. batch is loaded through the top grated cover of the mixer from a superstack via a forklift. Water is batched during the mixing process using a meter for a 4% addition rate. Durable cast Ni-Hard mixing paddles provide a lift/drop/shear mixing action for a typical three-minute mix time per batch.

Cast Ni-Hard scrapers used for the mixer tank end wall prevent material build-up. When the batch is complete, the operator opens a pneumatically actuated discharge door, which meters material into the product molds. At the end of use or shift, the mixer is washed out and the residue flushed through the tank bottom drain hole.
